Abstract

KBART, the Knowledge Base And Related Tools project, is a joint NISO/UKSG initiative aimed at improving the transfer of metadata among and between publishers, content providers, knowledgebase managers, and libraries. The goal is to improve the accuracy of data behind OpenURL resolvers, thereby leading to better and more accurate links for
patrons. In order to implement the group's recommendations, librarians need to understand the impact these recommendations will bring, and then encourage content providers and publishers at all levels to read, understand, and adopt the recommended practices. As KBART approaches the completion of its initial report, Jason Price, a member of the group, will discuss where we've been and where we're headed, and will
provide a concrete example of how KBART best practices will improve the flow of journal access metadata through the supply chain.
